Who is Steve?
Steve grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia, and graduated from high school in 1981.
After high school:
Attended Asbury College outside of Lexington, Kentucky, and graduated in 1985 with degrees in Physical Education and History. Lettered 4 years in Varsity Soccer.
Married in 1985 to Susan Fox of Opelika, Alabama.
In 1985, took a job with the Coweta County School System in Newnan, Georgia, teaching Physical Education and World History and coaching soccer at Newnan High School.
Received MS degree in Exercise Physiology from Georgia State University, 1992.
Received M.Ed. in History Education from the University of West Georgia, 1993.
Voted Teacher of the Year at Newnan High School, 1995, 1998, and 2009. Finalist for the Coweta County TOTY in 2009.
Served as Newnan High School History and Social Studies Department Chairman from 1990-2021.
Taught Advanced and General levels of World History, in addition to starting an elective class on the Vietnam War.
Taught history at Brewton-Parker College, 2007-2017.
Teaching history at the University of West Georgia’s Newnan campus since 2017.
Published his first local history book, Better Men, in 2022.
Steve has 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
